‘Notorious bandit leader threatens to kidnap Govs.’ – Security informants

Bandit leader threatens

A notorious bandit leader, identified as Kachalla Maha, has threatened to kidnap top government officials, including state governors, while claiming he has informants within Nigeria’s security agencies who provide him with advance intelligence on military operations.

In a recorded audio message that surfaced at the weekend and shared on social media, Maha alleged that he has access to confidential security information, including details of planned military offensives against his camp.

The bandit leader claimed his renewed wave of attacks followed the arrest of some of his associates and the seizure of their cattle, accusing authorities of ignoring repeated appeals for their release.

According to the recording, Maha vowed not to back down despite ongoing military operations, insisting he had already identified targets for future kidnappings. He further alleged that individuals within the security forces regularly alert him to planned operations, claiming he receives advance notice of security strategies before they are executed.

The authenticity of these claims has not been independently verified, and Nigerian security authorities had not publicly responded to the recording as of the time of filing this report.

The development comes amid continuing efforts by Nigerian security agencies to combat banditry and kidnapping across several northern states, where armed groups have carried out attacks on communities, schools, commuters, and government facilities.
